A.P.'s Cross DrawingJulie Millan, an art teacher at Tomah High School in Wisconsin, asked her students to submit drawings of landscapes.  So A.P. (name protected) submitted a drawing that contained a cross and a reference to the bible.  The reference read "John 316 A sign of love".  Millan asked him to remove the cross and biblical reference.  After refusing to remove the Christian references, Millan gave him a zero.  A.P. has filed a federal lawsuit alleging censorship.

Millin showed the student a policy for the class that prohibited any violence, blood, sexual connotations or religious beliefs in artwork.  His art teacher kicked him out of class after he tore up the document.  The lawsuit claims Millin told the boy he had signed away his constitutional rights when he signed the policy at the beginning of the semester.

Assistant Principal Cale Jackson told the boy his religious expression infringed on other students ' rights.  Well, that's odd because allegedly other students were allowed to draw "demonic " images.  Buddha and Hindu images are on display in Toma High School's social studies class.  Why don't the left wing loons remove those images?  In fact, according to the lawsuit, the social studies teacher "passionately" teaches Hindu principles.  It's never ceases to amaze me how Christians become the target of separation of church and state while other beliefs are allowed.  Why is it that colleges are actually installing footwashing facilities and prayer rooms for Muslims while Christians are discriminated against for drawing a cross on their artwork.

"We hear so much today about tolerance, " said David Cortman, an attorney with the Alliance Defense Fund, a Christian legal advocacy group representing the student. "But where is the tolerance for religious beliefs? The whole purpose of art is to reflect your own personal experience. To tell a student his religious beliefs can legally be censored sends the wrong message. "

My wife is an art teacher at a public high school and some of the artwork submitted by her students are gruesome, bloody pictures.  Many of them are drug related and contain cop killing drawings.  The school even has a gay student's club.  It seems the loonies and the ACLU has fought hard for these values while stifling Christians and their values.

This is the direction that the left wing wants our country to go.  I am absolutely certain that our founding fathers had no intention of suppressing our Christian values.  What is so offensive about Christians praying?  What is so offensive about a student drawing a cross on his artwork?  Oh, but tell a gay student that it infringes on other student's rights when they hold hands and the ACLU will be on you in a flash.
