Hillary Clinton, trying to connect with Pennsylvanians, told a group of people that she remembers a time when she was a little girl, her father took her behind a shed and taught her how to shoot a gun. Obviously, she was trying to identify with the gun rights folks in that state. And why not, Pennsylvania has the highest number of hunters in the United States.
Clinton called Obama on being an elitist over the comments he made about Americans being bitter and angry so they have to turn to gun rights, cling to their religion and antipathy to those not like them. So Obama is now taking shots at her in response. Here is what he had to say...
"Shame on her," Obama said. "Shame on her, she knows better."
Obama said he was disappointed with her for her response and then launched into a new criticism of Clinton over her recent admission of being a hunter, and compared her sarcastically to Annie Oakley.
"She's running around talking about how this is an insult to sportsmen, how she values the Second Amendment, she's talking like she's Annie Oakley! Hillary Clinton's out there like she's on the duck blind every Sunday, she's packin' a six shooter! C'mon! She knows better. That's some politics being played by Hillary Clinton. I want to see that picture of her out there in the duck blinds."
Holy cow, can you believe it. I think Obama is really show who he really is. While he tries to back away from his elitist statements, it is quite clear he does feel above others. It is apparent that he doesn't understand small town America and the working class. He has spent so much time in academia and as a big city lawyer/politician that he doesn't know how the rest of America lives. He can talk about being raised by his grandmother without much money, but let me tell you, he went to an elitist school in Hawaii. I know because I live in the islands. Even if you don't have much money, kids in that school have the opportunity to socialize with very upper middle class and elite kids. By the way, I am not putting down Punahou School. It's a great institution, but let's be real. The extremely high tuition can only be afforded by those families who do very well or by kids who can get scholarships.
While I am not a Clinton supporter, I must say that Obama took an unecessary shot at her. He, in fact, shows his true colors by showing that he doesn't understand a huge sector of the American population.
