To support the Surrender Party, retired General Wes Clark made comments about Senator John McCain, saying things like... “I don’t think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president.” Clark told CBS television that McCain was a hero for enduring years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam "but he hasn't held executive responsibility."
Frankly, I am quite surprised to hear this kind of talk from a retired General, regardless of political affiliation. I am absolutely positive that he would have loved to have this kind of person serving under his command during his active duty years. This kind of rhetoric is not necessary. That is what happens when you drink the kool-aid! He thinks he is helping Obama's campaign by spewing such non-sense and maybe he is, but he is certainly not helping the motivation of the young men and women in our country that may be considering military service. He trivializes McCain's service to our country. Holy cow, what does a person have to do for his country to get respect. Senator McCain endured a hell of a lot more than Clark during his service in Viet Nam.
When Clark says that McCain's service does reflect experience for executive responsibility, I wonder what in the heck he means. I never heard McCain say that his time spent as a POW quantifies his executive experience. Further, it doesn't give Obama any more credibility toward his own executive experience. So what is the point! Well, the point is that he wants to downplay John McCain's total dedication and love he has for this country! It is just a political statement that has no "meat" in it. It just reveals Wes Clarks as another left wing loon who will make idiotic statements in an attempt to smear John McCain. I respect and appreciate Clark's service to our country. I wish he had the same respect for John McCain.
