I just read on Fox News that John McCain may be considering former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge, a pro-choice advocate, for VP. As a conservative Christian, I would have definite issues with a decision like that.
“I think that the pro-life position is one of the important aspects or fundamentals of the Republican Party,” McCain said in an interview with The Weekly Standard. Yes, it is an important aspect, but not only for the Republican Party, but also for those with conservative morals regardless of political association.
“And also I feel that — and I’m not trying to equivocate here — that Americans want us to work together,” McCain added. “You know, Tom Ridge is one of the great leaders and he happens to be pro-choice. And I don’t think that that would necessarily would rule Tom Ridge out.”
As far as I am concerned, being pro-choice absolutely rules out Tom Ridge. I pray that McCain considers his other choices. I am positive that there are others on his short list that are great leaders and pro-life! John McCain is anti-abortion and I would hope the next administration to hold the line on pro-life.
All I can say is, "Don't do it, man!"
