The McCain/Obama forum concluded about 20 minutes ago and I really think McCain did a great job.  It was great to see the contrasting answers to the questions.  Both candidates were asked the same questions so Americans could make direct comparisons of the two candidates.

Obama, of course, did the "uh, uh" thing and gave long winded responses that were largely unsubstantive.  You could see that he was trying to walk carefully so that he didn't alienate any particular group.  It's the familiar crud we normally get from him.  It was difficult for him to pander because of the audience, however, due to the national reach of TV, he felt he had to walk carefully.

In contrast, John McCain responded decisively and confidently in his responses.  There wasn't any "uh, uh" or trying to pander to multiple groups.  He answered the questions with conviction.  He stood on principles regardless of what any special interest groups (spelled LEFT WING LOONS) might think.  He displayed leadership and experience.  He made global references to Georgia, Europe, Russia, France and Iraq and how it affects us.  When asked about abortion, he just came right out and said that he does not support abortion, nor will his administration support abortion.  There was no long winded, unsubstantive bloviating like that of his opponent.

In my humble opinion, John McCain came out as the leader in this forum.

I just finished watching the McCain/Obama forum.  Now Obama had to have known he was going to asked about abortion so, in Obama fashion, I am sure he prepared an answer about abortion.  So when asked the inevitable question, Obama said the issue of abortion was "above his paygrade".  What!?!?

This dude wants to become president of the greatest country in the world and he says that an issue is above his paygrade.  I don't get it!

Russian is, without question, making a statement with their attack on Georgia.  They want to show the world that they United States isn't the only show in town.  Hey, Russia, we are fighting world terrorism, not having a competition with your country!

Now they are jacking their jaws about the U.S. - Poland agreement to install a missle interceptor base in Poland.  A top Russian general said Friday that Poland's agreement to accept a U.S. missile interceptor base exposes the ex-communist nation to attack, possibly by nuclear weapons, the Interfax news agency reported.

It seems as though Russia has some sort of interiority complex.  Are we having that affect on them?  What's their beef?

"Poland, by deploying (the system) is exposing itself to a strike — 100 percent," Nogovitsyn, the deputy chief of staff, was quoted as saying.

He added, in clear reference to the agreement, that Russia's military doctrine sanctions the use of nuclear weapons "against the allies of countries having nuclear weapons if they in some way help them." Nogovitsyn that would include elements of strategic deterrence systems, he said, according to Interfax.

They are actually threatening to use nukes!  Man, they are sounding like Iran.  Poland and the United States say the systems are being intalled so that the former Soviet blocs and Europe can protect themselves from rogue nations like Iran.  Moscow, however, feels it is aimed at Russia's missile force.

We don't need another cold war.  If Russia were to react aggressively against the former Soviet bloc countries, it could spark WWIII. I would rather Moscow unite with us to fight terrorists instead of satiating their stupid complex.d
