I read on Rueters that McCain has actually taken a lead in the polls.  According to the news agency, McCain has opened up a 5 point lead on Obama.  Click here to read more...

The Reuter's article says McCain leads Obama among likely U.S. voters by 46 percent to 41 percent, wiping out Obama's solid 7-point advantage in July and taking his first lead in the monthly Reuters/Zogby poll.  Further, they reported that John McCain edges out Obama by 9 percentage points on the question of who would be the best manager for the economy.

CNN is reporting that McCain is has come within 3 percentage points of Obama's lead while the LA Times/Bloomberg poll puts McCain within 2 points, well within the poll's margin of error.

Is there a trend going on here?  I certainly hope so!  The media has credited this turn around on the attack ads, McCain's quick response to Russia's invasion of Georgia while Obama was vacationing and Obama's reluctance to firmly stand on off shore drilling in comparison to McCain's decisive support to drill.

I am positive that the Saddleback Forum will also bolster favorable opinions for those voters sitting on the fence.

We still have a way to go and the race is still open for either candidate to win.  I believe the upcoming debates will certainly sway voters and, quite frankly, Obama is pretty good at prepared debates.  The other thing that can affect Senator McCain's bid is his choice for veep.  I personally think it is a mistake to select a pro-choice advocate for VP.  I mean, he hit the ball out of the park when he answered the abortion question at Saddleback Church.  He should ride that wave all the to the beach (sorry, I am from Hawaii)!
