Every year my wife makes Veteran's Day special for me.  I love Mexican food so she took me to lunch.  I usually spend the day reflecting on my time in the military, the missions I was assigned and comrades that were lost.  I also spend the day watching old war movies.

Only about four people ever said "thank you" for my service.  Now I am not looking for any thanks because I was doing my job, however, I will admit that it is nice to hear.

So I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the vets and those still service for your time, service and sacrifice!

Watch this teacher browbeat a military member's daughter and preach her politics.  It just ain't right!

(Oh, btw, the first very first part is not in English, however, you will hear English after a few seconds.)

The Pentagon is planning a military space plane that can carry Marines anywhere in the world within 4 hours.  Generals would like it to be operational within 11 years.  Click here for more details. However, Obama said he will cut our military spending.  Will he cut this program?  I believe he will diminish our ability to keep the fight against terrorism off of American soil.  If you don't remember what he said...

U.S. Army soldier, Jeremy Hinzman, fled to Canada in 2004 after learning his unit was deploying to Iraq.  Imagine that... a U.S. Army unit deploying to Iraq.  Hmm... who would have thunk it!

Hinzman said he refused to participate in an illegal and immoral war.  So he deserted his country and his comrades to seek refugee status in Canada.

Now, I don't know about you, but anyone joining the Army in 2004 has got to know that he/she could be deployed Iraq.  The last I checked, we have an all volunteer military.  Hinzman took an oath at the induction center.  He knew full well the risks involved when joining the military and that included going to war even if it meant deploying to a war not of his choosing.  I mean, was he so stupid to expect that everyone in the military are given choices where they want to deploy.

As a veteran, guys like Jeremy Hinzman and Erin Watada make my blood boil.  Ok, so I can respect someone's view of the war (even if I disagree with them), however, I cannot sympathize with someone who willingly joins the military and then complains about being called to action.  In my humble opinion, they are cowards and have no integrity.

Oh well, now that he is coming back to the U.S., maybe he can attend the Democratic convention with all his other cut and run buddies like John Kerry.

Army Spc. Jeremy Hall wants to sue the U.S. Army for "unconstitutional" discrimination.  What in the heck is "unconstitutional" discrimination?  Well, he claims that he gets told to go elsewhere during Thanksgiving prayers.  When I was in the service, Christians were called out for being "Bible Thumpers" and told to go elsewhere if he/she didn't like the swearing.  I never heard of a Christian whining and threatening to sue the military.

The problem is that these left wing loons have victim mentality.

Dude, deal with it!!!

I know we are all busy, but please watch all of this video.  If you are on the fence on candidates for president, this should help you feel comfortable with which candidate has his heart in the right place.  This will show you a man who, without question, loves this country and knows how to persevere.

To support the Surrender Party, retired General Wes Clark made comments about Senator John McCain, saying things like... “I don’t think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president.”  Clark told CBS television that McCain was a hero for enduring years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam "but he hasn't held executive responsibility."

Frankly, I am quite surprised to hear this kind of talk from a retired General, regardless of political affiliation.  I am absolutely positive that he would have loved to have this kind of person serving under his command during his active duty years.  This kind of rhetoric is not necessary.  That is what happens when you drink the kool-aid!  He thinks he is helping Obama's campaign by spewing such non-sense and maybe he is, but he is certainly not helping the motivation of the young men and women in our country that may be considering military service.  He trivializes McCain's service to our country.  Holy cow, what does a person have to do for his country to get respect.  Senator McCain endured a hell of a lot more than Clark during his service in Viet Nam.

When Clark says that McCain's service does reflect experience for executive responsibility, I wonder what in the heck he means.  I never heard McCain say that his time spent as a POW quantifies his executive experience.  Further, it doesn't give Obama any more credibility toward his own executive experience.  So what is the point!  Well, the point is that he wants to downplay John McCain's total dedication and love he has for this country!  It is just a political statement that has no "meat" in it.  It just reveals Wes Clarks as another left wing loon who will make idiotic statements in an attempt to smear John McCain.  I respect and appreciate Clark's service to our country.  I wish he had the same respect for John McCain.

GryphonWell, it's not Squadron Commander Boomer.  In fact, it isn't even one of his wing men, but it is an interesting concept that may make inserting troops by parachute obsolete.

The vehicle is called the Gryphon and weighs only 30 lbs.  If has a 6 ft wingspan and can carry 100 lbs of combat gear.  Using the Gryphon, soldiers can make jumps at 30,000 ft. and travel at speeds of around 130 knots.

Typical high altitude, high-opening, or HAHO, jumps from around 27,000 feet allow soldiers to travel only about 30 miles after exiting the aircraft.  However, The Gryphon could increase that range fourfold, creating an attack corridor of nearly 125 miles. Unaffected by headwinds or crosswinds because of its favorable lift-to-drag ratio, the glider would allow elite units to reach targets with increased speed, precision and stealth.

The Gryphon’s built-in oxygen supply system allows soldiers to jump from up to 30,000 feet. And with temperatures at that altitude sometimes reaching minus 64 degrees Fahrenheit, every second counts. Even in upwind conditions, the Gryphon could reduce HAHO jump duration to a third, from an average of 45 minutes to just 15, vastly reducing the risk of exposure to extreme cold.

When I first saw the Gryphon and read it's capabilities I thought, "they must be kidding".  However, they are serious and the more I considered it, the more I saw the value of vehicle.  I think, though, that there are other considerations like cost, how to ditch the glider so as not to be "re-used' by the enemy, how the size of the unit will effect the amount of troops that can be loaded into the aircraft, etc.  Ok, so maybe the Gryphon is not ready for prime time just yet.  We'll have to keep an eye out for further developments.

I had a bit of a chance to watch some of General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker testimony this morning as I was running the treadmill at my local gym.  I caught the very end of Senator McCain's questioning, however, I was able to watch the Senator Kennedy's questioning.  Kennedy only asked a couple questions.  That's because his second question was more of a political speech.  It was a long drawn out speech about how the American public is tired of the way... blah blah blah.... you have heard the typical liberal non-sense.  It was a statement more than a question.  If I was General Petraeus, I would have just sat there and asked him what his question was.  If he expected a response out of General Petraeus, I think he could have told him that he is a military expert and deferred the political questions to the experts like himself and the other politicians in Congress.

I believe that Kennedy and his other liberal cronies just want to hear General Petraeus buy into their argument.  It is difficult for the "Cut n Run" Party to make their points when someone who has been on the ground in Iraq and deals with reality everyday in country says otherwise.  These fat Senators sit on their arses and act like experts, but they are just looking to get approval from their party.  They will endanger this country just to look good among their liberal constituents and party cronies.

So far, I believe Petraeus and Crocker have been open and honest about the situation in Iraq.  Why would the lie?  I am sure they would love to say that our job is done and come home!  However, being professionals in the thick of things, they know the reality.  The Right Wing Squadron fully supports their testimony.
