After the campaign season it was nice to take a little break from blogging. Even though there was a lot to blog about since that first week of November, I just decided to take a breather. Anyway it is now 2009! First of all... Happy New Year to all of you!
Well, I just finished watching the Captial One Bowl game and now I am watching the Rose Bowl (Penn St. vs USC). Although I have ties to USC and have been a fan of their football team since childhood, there is a part of me that wants to see Penn St. and Joe Paterno win the game.
Ok, so what does football have to do with my political and conservative views? Well, nothing really! However, as a coach of youth football and an avid football fan, the subject occasionally creeps into my blog.
At any rate, I do have a world event that I want to briefly discuss today. I just read that top Hamas leader Nijar Rayan was taken out. The Israelis also took out 2 out of 4 of his wives and 4 out of 12 of his children after striking his home. Israeli military officials reportedly warned members of Rayan's family not ot stay in the home thursday but they refused, saying they were human shields.
First of all, congrats to Israel on their succesful strike! I know that much of the Arab world is protesting Israel's action, however, they don't bring up the fact that Hamas violated the truce and pelted Israel with rocket attacks prior to the Iraeli offensive. What do they expect Israel to do? Well, this has been the same story for decades.
As for hitting his family members, well I blame that on Nijar Rayan. What kind of coward hides behind his family?! A real man would have sent his family to a safe place. I hope they realize that the strategy only results in getting their family killed. Of course, those who sympathize with Hamas will place the blame on Israel.
Well, will be the first blog for 2009. Nothing spectacular, but it is a start.
Have a Happy New Year!
